I have a lot of thoughts…

On Housing Stability
We need to think about all angles of building housing stability: affordable rent, affordable homes, a realistic path from renting to owning - all on a single income. So many people are trapped in abusive relationships because of the cost of housing. I also want to help the unhoused community by providing a roof over their head while they get back on their feet (this would also include mental and physical health care and creating sober communities).

What Community Looks Like
Community is central to the human experience - we evolved to thrive together! Individuals die, communities survive. To strengthen our communities, we must work on welcoming everyone with open arms, and making sure everyone has a seat at the table - especially those who haven’t been given a seat before. Communities also need good mediation skills when conflicts arise, something I have plenty of practice doing when working with families.

Public Safety
I want everyone in our communities to feel safe. I would like to mandate de-escalation practices with Longmont Police, and to protect citizens and non-citizens alike. I also believe in the up-the-river method of problem solving - instead of responding to people after they’re in trouble, what if we tried to stop the trouble from starting? I would reallocate funds into preventative programs to help prevent crime and homelessness rather than just responding to it.
